My work history spanning roles as a chef assistant, carpenter, sound and FX editor for film, and a kickboxing coach. They all constitute a training ground where I have cultivated a multisensory appreciation. These occupations are unified by an emphasis on embodied listening and situational awareness, qualities that are foundational to both life and creative work.
Studying on the BA Sound Arts course has encouraged me to embrace and refine my idiosyncratic approaches to sound, allowing these diverse influences to unite into a more integrated mode of thinking and making.
Culinary arts, martial arts, and theatrical training have embedded within me a deep appreciation for discipline, presence, and embodiment. These practices emphasize the significance of breath, sensory awareness, timing, and the ephemerality of presence, psychophysical qualities that are central to my philosophy and creative process. Culinary and carpentry require a tactile sensitivity attuned to material resistance, flow, repetition and adaptation, all of which subtly inform my compositional and performative processes. These encounters have not only refined my technical dexterity but shaped a compositional ethos grounded in resilience, responsiveness, and deep listening. These seemingly distinct experiences have formed a foundation of attentiveness and adaptability that I carry into my artistic work.
