Archetypal Bodies Prototype #1

This is a re-imagine of my previous work, “VENT!”.
My central idea is that, through performance, we access our unconscious, therefore allowing the archetypal spirit to enter our state of being.
Stories encapsulate archetypal meaning and the framework of how we think and orient ourselves in this world. So, the essence of this piece lies in the text of the story. Language to me not only serves as containers of matching perceptions, chaining up words, linearly forumating with respect to the previous and the ones that follow. It’s a chess game that knows its rules and roles. More importantly, language is about navigating experiences. We are our situation, and It is the affective movement in language that creates opportunities to drift within my psychic terrain. Through the flow of words, through being inside the experience, focalizing in different scales and depths, I use words to describe what I see inwardly and outwardly.
(Improvise to the script -> embody the psychological value through connecting movement quality to textual description-> the intention and intensity of bodily awareness and acute attention reverberates within the mental landscape-> the tension of the imperceptible brewing in the unconscious, and releases through visceral sensation, motor reaction and vocalization)
The main interest and influence of the project for me to dig deep into the unconscious and archetypes was watching Jordan Peterson’s lectures on the narrative of mythological stories and responding to the underlying structure of perceptions and personalities. I cannot stress this enough where an artist’s obligation is to know themselves and forge their artistic solutions and languages, ultimately, to express fully our spectrum of human experiences and connect with the world. Hence, the deep dive into archetypal research, connecting body and existence. I want to continue his psychoanalysis and philosophical concepts into works of art as an artistic response to academic theories. Along this path, I wish to study myself through psychoanalysis amalgamated with a performance art lens and reflect on my previous theatre work. The tale begins with a man born in the ventilation of a high-security hospital. In hindsight, I see the story arch echo with The Allegory of the Cave.
